Thousand&One is a global, feminist community that supports Women of Colour to thrive in their personal and professional lives.

OUR PURPOSE

As Women of Colour, we face unique barriers that impact our day-to-day, health and wellbeing, and sense of belonging. From the home to the streets, in our personal and professional lives, challenges persist.

Thousand&One was born out of our frustration with systems and structures that were not built with us in mind. It is inspired by a deep desire and necessity for bolder and braver spaces that centre community and lived experience.

We turn to feminist and decolonial practices as our guiding principles in fostering self and collective care. Here’s how we do it:

CONNECT

Thousand&One is a community that connects Women of Colour. We are committed to building inclusive and safe spaces that foster equity and nurture belonging.

SUPPORT

We support Women of Colour through healing and storytelling. Together, we share experiences, celebrate resilience, and honour cultures and identities.

THRIVE

Thousand&One equips Women of Colour with tailored resources to navigate their careers, realize their potential, and thrive in their lives.

QUARTERLY MEETUPS

Our meetups offer brave and inclusive spaces where our community can share knowledge, experiences, and ideas, centred around a theme.

LEADERSHIP WORKSHOP

This workshop allows Women of Colour to reconnect with their power and move forward with renewed confidence and community.

OUR JOURNAL

Our blog is a meeting place for our community to engage in important conversations.

LAND ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

It is with great honour that we acknowledge that Thousand&One was founded in the City of Toronto, the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee and the Wendat peoples. It is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. Toronto is covered by Treaty 13, signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit, and the Williams Treaties, signed with multiple Mississaugas and Chippewa bands.
